73 SG Restoration

Andy brought this too me before Christmas and asked if I could take a look, see if I could do something with it. He said he found it in a pawn shop many years ago for dirt cheep. The only history he had was that the neck was broken and repaired.

Taking a first glimpse I thought ich...someone really screwed this one up. The original finish was gone (should be cherry) the bridge was rotting away and Japanese, the neck was re-attached somewhat sloppily and there was screw holes where there shouldn't be.....

On second look, the neck is straight, the electronics and pickups are original and sound fantastic. Hmmm.... there seems to be an indention where a Bigsby should be.....Explains the screw holes.

After a little homework...there's supposed to be a Bigsby and Nashville bridge....that stop bar shouldn't be there. If I clean up the neck cracks, find an original Bigsby, plug some holes and put a new bridge back on, I might be able to save this puppy.

And away we go....

Dave...I'm really start to think that you were born to do this. Can't wait to see the end result.
Happy New Year buddy...
