Fell a bit behind due to computer issues but I'm back and hoping to post a bit more often.
Here we have a Dean ML brought to me by a client we'll call L. This ML was in bad shape but had the potential to sound great. The Electronics were all messed up and needed to be completely rewired. Once the rewire was complete and the body, neck and frets were cleaned up she sounded GREAT! A real Shredder. The only thing missing was the Cavity Cover (the hood of the car). Without a proper cover the electronics are exposed to the elements and would certainly become damaged in the future. Especially on the road.
To do this repair I like the Rub and Transfer method (I just made that up :p). I'll take a piece of scrap paper, tape it to the body surrounding the cavity and literally rub a pencil gently around the cavity hole until I have an exact outline of the hole and where the screws are located. I'll then use lo tack spray adhesive (I'll say it again..LOW TACK) and adhere the template to my pick guard material. From there it's just cut and sand to the sketched line. Drill holes for the screws remove the template and pop it on. LIKE BUTTER an exact fit.

Dave, your craftsmanship and attention to detail never cease to amaze me. And I love that you're not keeping any secrets, you just go and tell exactly what you did. I think that shows confidence in your abilities.
Thanks Ryan
