One of my clients brought this poor Ibanez in. He wouldn't say how, but somebody dropped it.
and it was plugged in when it hit the ground. The hole that was created when the jack plate was pushed through the wood into the guitar was huge. I called and emailed about a dozen shops looking for a pre-made jack plate that would cover the hole to no avail. So this ones from scratch.
I started with a strip of 1/8" Aluminum. I cut to size, drilled the jack and screw holes, countersunk the screw holes and beveled the edges. Next came the pounding... I was able to beat the slug to fit the contour of the guitar. Polished, buffed and installed.
Here you can see the before and after.
I'm extremely happy with the result. I hope the client is too.
